Record breaking hotel sales
The latest available NISRA accommodation figures show there was a 5% increase in rooms sold in hotels, guesthouses, guest accommodation and B&Bs during Jan-Sep 2018, which equates to an additional 92,300 rooms sold compared with Jan-Sep 2017.
NI hotels achieved record breaking sales during the first nine months of 2018, with over 1.6 million rooms sold, and average room occupancy reaching 72% over this period.  The hotel data specialist STR report that the average daily rate (ADR) for NI hotels was £79.84 during Jan-Sep 2018, up by 3% on Jan-Sep 2017.
At the end of September 2018 the number of available hotel rooms in Belfast increased by over one quarter compared with September 2017, resulting in an extra 1,800 bed-spaces to be filled each night.  This increase impacted on Belfast occupancy, however, the number of Belfast hotel rooms sold increased compared with Jan-Sep 2017.
The guest house/guest accommodation/B&B sector delivered a strong performance during Jan-Sep 2018, with increases in both occupancy and sales compared with the same period in 2017.
