Strong Accommodation Performance
The latest available NISRA accommodation figures show there were almost 2.5 million rooms sold in hotels, guesthouses, guest accommodation and B&Bs during Jan-Nov 2018, an increase of 5% on Jan-Nov 2017.
January-November saw hotels achieving unprecedented sales with over 2 million rooms sold, and average room occupancy reaching 71% over this period.  The hotel data specialist STR report that the average daily rate (ADR) for NI hotels was £79.33 during Jan-Nov 2018, up by 1.4% on Jan-Nov 2017.
At the end of November 2018 the number of available hotel rooms in Belfast increased by almost one third compared with November 2017, resulting in an extra 2,400 bed-spaces to be filled each night.  This increase impacted on Belfast occupancy, however the number of Belfast hotel rooms sold increased compared with Jan-Nov 2017.
The guest house/guest accommodation/B&B sector delivered a strong performance during Jan-Nov 2018 with an additional 35,000 bed-spaces sold compared with the same period in 2017.

Industry report a positive performance across all main markets in 2018
The November Tourism NI Industry Barometer confirms that performance during 2018 was generally positive, with the Northern Ireland tourism industry reporting continued strong business levels compared with the previous year.  Both the overseas and GB markets performed strongly with the recent strong growth in the ROI and domestic markets also being generally maintained albeit at a slower rate.

Visitors to Belfast’s Maritime Mile will get a chance to see previously silent landmarks like the Big Fish ‘wake up’ and anyone with a mobile phone can strike up a conversation and hear what they have to say.
The pilot project will run until St Patrick's Day.

Tourism Northern Ireland had a successful weekend, exhibiting at the Holiday World Show 2019. The show ran from 25-27 January 2019 at the RDS in Dublin, and this year beat last year’s record of the biggest NI representation at Holiday World in the history of the show.
