Unprecedented hotel sales
The latest available NISRA accommodation figures show there was a 5% increase in rooms sold in hotels, guesthouses, guest accommodation and B&Bs during Jan-Oct 2018, which equates to an additional 110,500 rooms sold compared with Jan-Oct 2017.
January-October 2018 saw hotels achieving unprecedented sales with almost 1.9 million rooms sold.  However both room and bed-space occupancy recorded decreases, impacted by the number of additional hotel rooms and beds to fill compared with the same period in 2017.   The hotel data specialist STR report that the average daily rate (ADR) for NI hotels was £79.69 during Jan-Oct 2018, up by 2% on Jan-Oct 2017.
At the end of October 2018 the number of available hotel rooms in Belfast increased by almost one third compared with October 2017.  This increase impacted on Belfast occupancy, however, the number of Belfast hotel rooms sold increased compared with Jan-Oct 2017.
The guest house/guest accommodation/B&B sector delivered a strong performance during Jan-Oct 2018, with increases in both occupancy and sales compared with the same period in 2017.
